The Rubber duck update is here!


We're happy to announce that Treefender has been updated to v0.204 a.ka. "the rubber duck update"! Introducing a summonable hot air balloon, explosive rubber ducks and exploding slingshot bullets for you to enjoy.

Rubber duck

Why rubber ducks? Because it turns out that if you tape some TNT to them they become highly explosive. (Who would've thought?) You can throw them at enemies from the also newly added balloon station!

Balloon station

You can find the balloon station under the props tab in your buildmode menu. Once placed, it will take some time to generate a balloon. Once ready, you hit the button on the station and get to enjoy a spectacular new view of the neighbourhood + some rubber ducks to throw. Be very careful though, they will explode within 5 seconds after being picked up. You wouldn't want to accidentaly drop it in the balloon basket..

Exploding bullets station

With this station you can upgrade your slingshot arsenal with exploding bullets! Grab them with the red button attached to the station and you'll see the number of exploding bullets remaining shown on your slingshot. Their  trajectory is different than the standard bullet because they're heavier, so make sure to aim those shots well to take out multiple enemies at once!

Other updates

There's a lot more polish and bug fixes in this update. Here's the list:

added some more details to the neighbourhood streets.

made teleport areas on floortiles bigger for easier teleporting.

added start menu to game. Options menu not working yet.

made some post processing color correction changes.

tweaked the radial menu on left hand making it more intuitive to use.

tweaked some particle fx.

small tweaks on wristwatch UI.

moved koinz amount from wristwatch to build menu.

Updated prop and station placer. Props and stations should not be able to be placed through
each other anymore.

props and stations can now be build in the middle of a floor tile.

fixed some sound effects where demolishing a prop would trigger an explosion sound.

added a little drop animation when building objects, stations and props.

Added a cinematic external camera to look around with while someone else is playing in VR.

Can be activated with F2 moved around and up and down with WASDQE and zoomed in/out with -=
mouse rotation can be enabled/disabled with TAB.

Known issues

After teleporting back from the balloon to the treefort, your head might get decapitated resulting in very strange and nauseating VR results and an unplayable game.. We think is is due to external cameras being active. So make sure an external cam is deactivated while being teleported from the balloon back to the treefort!

Turrets are still not to be trusted. They might betray you, or not fight at all. Turrets will get a big update in the next version.

Looking ahead

What's more to come for the next update of Treefender? Expect more bug fixes, a little bit more polish, and.. an abductionship.
